Pointers on Dog Acupressure and Hip Dysplasia

Sometimes you love your dog so much that when they are in pain, it is as though you are in pain, too. This is especially true if your dog has hip dysplasia. Hip dysplasia can either be caused by injury, or by congenital problems with the hip bones. It is severely painful to your dog. It is a form of arthritis and quite often, your dog will have difficulty moving.

However, this form of arthritis can be very well helped with the use of acupressure. If you plan to do acupressure on your dog be sure to first consult your veterinarian to get a complete diagnosis and a full workup. Also, your Vet should know that you plan to do these acupressure treatments on your dog.

There are different types of arthritis hip dysplasia. Some get worse when it’s hot, while others worsen when it’s cold. Some are aggravated by wet weather. At any rate, most dogs with hip dysplasia will have some bony growth in this area, so you may find that you’re not going to be able to do every point that you would like to.

As you work your fingers through the hips, just use the points that your dog seems to be comfortable with. If your dog is actually moving into the points, then you know you’re actually creating a lot more comfort for your pet, so stay with the movements your dog moves into.
